Shafiq Ghazie
Shafiq Ghazie is a Malaysian independent curator and creative practitioner whose work explores the intersection of contemporary art, spatial experience, visual culture, and public engagement. With a multidisciplinary background spanning creative arts, media, branding, and visual communication, his curatorial approach emphasizes emotional resonance, spatial storytelling, and accessible contemporary art experiences within live and public environments.
As one of the founders of Mentari Art Gallery, he focuses on developing intimate curatorial platforms that connect emerging and established Malaysian artists with wider audiences through exhibitions, collaborations, and cultural initiatives. His practice combines contemporary curatorial sensibilities with reflective and human-centred approaches, positioning art as both an emotional encounter and a shared cultural dialogue.
About The Artist
Rube Jamal
Rube Jamal is a Malaysian abstract artist whose artistic journey spans more than five decades. A graduate of the Master of Fine Arts programme at The Maryland Institute College of Art, USA, she has been actively exhibiting since 1972. Over the years, she has participated in numerous exhibitions locally and internationally, including at Balai Seni Visual Negara, University of Malaya Art Gallery, Universiti Teknologi MARA, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, G13 Gallery, ASWARA, Pavilion Damansara Heights, The Pennsylvania State University, and The Maryland Institute College of Art.
Working primarily in abstraction, her paintings are guided by spontaneity, emotional intuition, and lived experience. Through dynamic relationships between colour, movement, line, tone, and space, her works evoke rhythm, memory, contemplation, and emotional resonance. Her artworks are part of collections including University of Malaya Art Gallery, The New Straits Times Press, Galeri Prima, Galeri Seni Lukis Perlis, Henry Butcher Art Auctioneers, Access Alliance Asia Sdn Bhd, as well as private collections in Malaysia and abroad.
